Re: unknown stone
Looks like Garnet (Almandine) to me. Many of them are polished crystals for a more appealing look.

Re: unknown stone
Is it attracted to a neodymium magnet?
Almandine would be.
Almandine would be.
Re: unknown stone
Thank u for ur reply. No its not attracted to a magnet.the top seems to be like a cover ,like a coating
Re: unknown stone
it seems to be very sparkly and orangish red all over. All those green patches seem to glow.wonder if its an reddish orange or green stone.

Re: unknown stone
I think the "facets" are not natural at all. That leads me to ask if it could be sphalerite? In any event, you just need to take it to someone with a Raman and all will become clear.

Re: unknown stone
The green stains are likely chrome oxide polish. I'd guess garnet but it could be any number of dark red materials.

Re: unknown stone
I'm with the Challeners here. Clearly, the pictures and descriptions you have provided, Bobby, are insufficient for identification. Team up with someone with more sophisticated instrumentation and report back.
