Indonesia is well known among gem collectors for Bacan stone, a blue-green chalcedony originating from Bacan Island, North Maluku. Bacan is particularly valued for its natural blue to bluish-green color, translucency, and its ability to develop a deeper, more saturated hue over time.
From a gemological perspective, Bacan is classified as chalcedony, with its coloration commonly associated with copper-related elements and natural mineral inclusions. Its popularity has made Bacan one of Indonesia’s most recognizable blue gemstones.
This topic begins with Bacan stone as an introduction to the broader discussion of blue gemstones found in Indonesia, including their geological origins, color-forming elements, and distinguishing gemological characteristics.

As I understand it, this stone is transparent chalcedony colored with chrysocolla.
Some of the nicest examples I've seen.

Some of it is chalcedony, some is opal, some is stable and some isn't. Plus lots of dyed material seems to be out there too unfortunately.

poops.
I was going to have a friend try to find some for me in Tucson.
I guess if she sees anything that looks right she can collect business cards.

What a shame. Maybe it was more a case of Stephen's thoughts.. too much low quality or not dinky-di.... or totally mesmerised by the pretties and suffered a major brain f as to her purpose of the day which was to sate your thirst and ours so we can experience things vicariously through you... do I need to give her a stern talking to for you?
on the serious side, did she purchase some wonderful finds?
