So, here are two stones I'm considering purchasing. I'd be interested in knowing what your thoughts are on a "fair price" (as a consumer). I'm purchasing them for myself, not for resale.

The tourmaline is between 7 and 8 carats and is Afghan in origin, cut in the states by a AGTA award winning cutter, and displays three shades of green. It is flawless and untreated.

The Aqua is probably Santa Maria Afrique (the rough was purchased in Africa) and not guaranteed to be un-heated. It does not appear to be Maxixie-type, as the cutter left the whole parcel of material on the roof in the hot summer sun for three weeks. It is eye clean with small veil, and a little over 3 carats.

I'd appreciate any thoughts on a fair price for either or both stones (same cutter).

Alas, no. But I will be offered a full 10 day return if the stones don't look/test like they should.

Well, I've decided not to purchase them. I just couldn't get past the cut on the aqua (it's not poorly cut, but I'm just not in love with the shape), and I just really can't justify buying a tourmaline that big right now... I have no pressing use for it.

If anyone else is interested in acquiring them, the tourmaline is for sale on eBay for $325: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5060403964&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1

The aqua was also on eBay but the auction is over. If you email the seller, and ask about it, he will probably offer to sell it to you. I was quoted $300 but I can't promise you'd get the same offer. I have no personal/business relation with this seller, so I can't tell you if he's reliable. Best of luck!
