Hi all!

I've decided to start my own thread in hopes of attaining as many views as some of you have aquired in your posts. Since I am not a gemological expert...(still a student) I am knowledgeable in the world of Tiffany & Co. so I am starting a "Tiffany Trivia" thread. There is no prize for right answers so think of this as "just for fun".

Question #1

In what year did Tiffany & Co. intruduce its famous blue box?

Question #2

What famous clock resides above the front door of the New York Flagship store?

Question #3

During the Civil War, Tiffany & Co. produced what items for the Union Army?

Question #4

In what year did Tiffany & Co. become a publicly traded company?

Question #5

What is the name of Tiffany's newest diamond engagement ring and what type of cut is it?

Good Luck!

It is possible that belt buckles were made for the officers. T&Co. has made probably a million different items or more over the past 170 years. There were other more practical items made for the army though.

Also, Novo is correct. The ring and diamond are both called novo. I guess I was asking about cut style (i.e. princess is a "square modified brilliant")

hahaha...a flask would probably be the most used item, but still there are others more practical. Think life saving...

Yes. Tiffany produced surgical equipment for the union army. We also made swords and flags.

Apparently, during the Civil War, the company was an emporium for military supplies, producing swords and importing rifles and ammunition.

The Novo is a cushion-cut fashioned after the fancy yellow Tiffany diamond. The Tiffany diamond weighs 128 carats and sports 90 facets. I don't know the total facet count on the Novo.

Barbra,

You are right in that the Novo is a cushion cut...however instead of being a modified brilliant cushion cut (like the tiffany diamond)...it is a brilliant cushion cut as it has the same number of facets and facet arrangement as the standard round brilliant. What is truly remarkable about the novo is that it emits the same brilliance and fire found in a RB.

1. 1837, their first year.

2. Is the Louis Comfort Magnolia Clock?

4. I know the were publicly traded during the depression, but didn't they go public again after the Avon disaster?

1837 was the year C.L. Tiffany introduced the famous blue box...probably the greatest marketing tool ever!!

The clock is actually known for the mythological figure holding it.

Tiffany & Co. stock is currently traded on the NYSE. So I guess my question should be revised to ask..."In what year was TCO stock first offered on the NYSE?"

Good clue, it has to be Atlas holding the clock.

Now you've got me wondering about the stock, might have to hit google.

Blue Box - yes, the beginning of some great marketing. Didn't they do something with P.T. Barnum early on?

Yup...it is Atlas. We actually have a wide range of time pieces and jewelry designed after that clock. It is a huge part of our company. In fact, the clock actually moved from the prior location to the location on 5th avenue. Anyone know the street Tiffany started on?

I'm not familiar with P.T. Barnum...I'll have to look it up.
