Hello, I just started my AJP throught GIA. I am brand new and embarking on a possible second career. I just sent in my first exam, Jewelry Essentials. Colored stone essentials in next and then diamond essentials.
My ultimate goal is Graduate Diamonds or Graduate Gemologist. Would it be worthwhile or me at this point to invest in the Gemology Tools software? There seem to be 2 versions, basic for 39.95 and pro for 79.95. Any advice on the need , usefulness and helpfulness of this product is appriciated.

Thanks

I use it a lot. Now that I have over 700 gem stones identified and in inventory, not as much as now I am making jewelry with the stones. here is good information, pictures of inclusions, etc in addition to the ability to sort the database on the data that you get from the unknown stones.

using GT does not take away your need to do careful assessment and obtain accurate data regarding the stone to be identified. If you want to use the other tools available, including a type of cut grading report, i is all available for you.

John

I don't know the standard version, I bought the Pro for the data files that are included, the inclusion photos are terrific. I also had several hundred cut stones to identify; the search for matches by hand was very time consuming, and most texts don't include the rare stuff in their lists. Even though I knew that mine would be some of the common stuff.

For software that is as complete as the one that i got (PRO), the cost is very low.

Hi

I have the PRO and it is the biggest helper for me , im doing my schooling on the net , I USE IT EVERYDAY  i dont have someone sitting next to me to help , so the program is a very useful guide when just learning gemstones . Yes you still need to do all the tests but the program breaks down the options of what it could be . It has helped me alot .

If you have any questions the owner of the program belongs here to the forum , GTP BILL, give him a shout , hes very helpful and also check out the other threads about his program :smt024

these reviews are from the pros here , and what they have to say about this program , what more could you ask for :D

For me it well worth the $$$ i've spent :smt045
