I was recently speaking with Tim about a particular article in the current G&G and the fact that it was available in .pdf format for a charge of $10. That seemed quite fair, BUT upon further research, I found that several articles are available from back issues of G&G without charge.
I've listed them below:

-A Contribution to Understanding the Effect of Blue Fluorescence on the Appearance of Diamonds
-A Foundation for Grading the Overall Cut Quality of Round Brilliant Cut Diamonds
-A History of Diamond Treatments
-A New Type of Synthetic Opal: Mexfire
-An Update on Filled Diamonds: Identification and Durability
-Aquamarine, Maxixe-Type Beryl, and Hydrothermal Synthetic Blue Beryl: Analysis and Identification
-Beryllium Diffusion of Ruby and Sapphire
-Color Variations and Properties of Johachidolite from Myanmar
-Emerald and Gold Treasures of the Spanish Galleon Nuestra Señora de Atocha
-Fluorescence Spectra of Colored Diamonds Using A Rapid, Mobile Spectrometer
-G. Robert Crowningshield: A Legendary Gemologist
-Gem Pegmatites of Minas Gerais, Brazil: Exploration, Occurrence, and Aquamarine Deposits
-Gota De Aceite: Nomenclature for the Finest Colombian Emeralds
-Heat Treating the Sapphires of Rock Creek, Montana
-Identification and Durability of Lead Glass-Filled Rubies
-Identification of Melee-Size Synthetic Yellow Diamonds in Jewelry
-Latest-Generation CVD-Grown Synthetic Diamonds From Apollo Diamond Inc.
-Liddicoatite Tourmaline From Anjanabonoina, Madagascar
-Modeling the Appearance of the Round Brilliant Cut Diamond: An Analysis of Fire, and More About Brilliance
-Pezzottaite from Ambatovita, Madagascar: A New Gem Mineral
-Photomicrography for Gemologists
-Pink-to-Red Coral: A Guide to Determining Origin of Color
-Rhodizite-Londonite from the Antsongombato Pegmatite, Central Madagascar
-Serenity Coated Colored Diamonds: Detection And Durability
-The Color Durability of "Chocolate Pearls" by Ballerina Pearl Co.
-The Ultimate Gemologist: A Tribute to Richard T. Liddicoat
-Yellow Mn-Rich Tourmaline From The Canary Mining Area, Zambia
-The “Type” Classification System of Diamonds and its Importance in Gemology

I think the posted research articles are a tremendous resource.
Most folks are not even aware that they exist.
