Hi, Folks,

I don’t know what are the legitimate adjectives for luster in the gem trade. My gem books tell me that they are vitreous, adamantine, metallic, waxy etc. I can still imagine what are “good”, “excellent”, “strong” etc. But “world class luster”threw me into confusion. :smt017

However, I can tell quite a bit about the cut. It has a terrible cut especially on the pavilion. The culet is off center and there is no symmetry. It looks like a typical example, which Jeff Graham called a butchered gem. :smt089 I think a good re-cut will make this stone truely “world class”.

Any taker?

Mitch

 hey mitch,

sounds like he's been watching too much of the gemshopping network-whenever the hosts show the gems, the gems are "world class," "top gem," etc... (i think these expressions are trademarked by gemshopping)

that must be a new expression we haven't heard? "world class luster" with "transperant" clarity (sounds like a new brand of deodorant/antiperspirant, lol)

what does "em" represent in code?

check out in the "related items and services" section what other goodies the same seller has on his e-bay site:

a 317+ C Unheated Diamond (???) Yellow Biggest Spodumene

Oh, there is 1 higher luster grade. You'll notice the vendor's "padparadscha tourmaline" achieves the luster grade of "mind blowing."

Reincarnation does exist and Timothy Leary is selling gems.

Someone hook me up head first in the ass-kicking machine and go to town. I can't take it anymore.

Jason has shown me stones online that were tourmaline that would blow most pads out of the water...pink and orange..combo so perfect...Padparadscha(the word) refers to only the color, correct?
