I thought this poorly cut, included, blue-green stone was emerald, because the title used that name.
But wait a minute. The description says:
-It has sharp thin legs (!)
-100% transparent
-Hardness 9
-World class luster
-Weight 50 carats & unknown size
What really is it??
The seller obviously did not visit a museum to see what museum gemstones look like. But they seem to watch plenty of jtv. Or can they?? In Thailand??

A beautiful tale for the Amethyst guy to taketh away.
I was visiting a high end dealer and brought my complete collection of tourmaline so that he would appreciate its depth of color. I showed him mine and he showed me some of his new treasures. One of his biggest purchases in the last month was an unheated padparadscha sapphire from Ceylon. It was of moderate light saturation and good sized. After appreciating the gem I began to dig through my collection. I was looking for a 20 plus carat tourmaline in my collection that was a dead ringer for the padparadscha sapphire's color. And as I found it, the deal spoke that he knew I had tourmaline with a similar color to the padparadscha. Undaunted I produced the gem, which is flawless and the dealer examined it. I was correct the color was the same. I have checked out synthetic padparadsha and Chatham makes more than one level of color saturation of padparadscha sapphire. And I think that I have them all in tourmaline.
Bruce,
I want to thank amethyst guy for mixing sapphire and tourmaline into a colorful brew. It helped me learn how to spell, padparadscha! I still can't pronounce it.
