Thanks!
I actually got these moldavites during the New Age-boom, which was in the early 90's here in Scandinavia. The seller got annoyed as I described these "gifts to mankind" merely as "interesting specimens"... :)

Nice photo Conny. 8) We'd recently tested some moldavite and those internal features can be very helpful in the identification. ... also got a nice diagnostic FTIR signature on it as well.

The latest Australian Gemmologist has a nice paper by Grant Pearson on this material as well as meteorites.... bear

Is there a copy of these articles available online?

There is a link to the Australian Gemmologist's site where it shows the abstract, http://www.australiangemmologist.com.au/ and also on this site is a link to where you can send an email to the editor of the AG.

Grant Pearson is the editor (and also the author of that paper).... if that link does not get him (it may reach Hylda) then you can PM me and I will send you Grant's email address. I'm sure Grant will be happy to send you along his version of that particular piece. Tell him an old bear sent you.
:smt025

BTW- Hylda is the backbone of the AG

Inner structure is the best indicator for identifing a real or fake moldavite.
Swirls are sometimes call Schlieren (from a german word).

Schlieren show that glass matter did not mix well enough - moldavites were in liquid consistence for a very short time...
