Magnesium crystal? Don't know if there's a fancy name for the stone but I think it has to be a magnesium base as magnesium burns brightly and for quite a long time releasing both carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide.

No.

Let me tell you more about me.

I'm a gem for collectors. I'm a rare one, you know. And I'm at my best in germany.

I melt easily

Calcite fears fluorite.
I fear calcite.

OK, I'll keep trying....salt? probably not.....

I LOVE doing this because I learn so much more than just reading it out of the book and I REMEMBER it much easier.

Salt is sodium chloride....

Clue: "When burned, I will release water, carbon monoxyde and carbon dioxyde. "

Therefore the mineral must contain hydrogen, carbon and oxygen, no?

I'm not salt, but I'm a salt of calcium :)

And I'm natural.

If it's sphalerite, then maybe it's Cleiophane? Somehow, the chemical makeup of sphalerite doesn't seem right but then the sum total of chemistry I know is what I've learned after I turned 50 and began studying gemstones.

Edit to add: After it's identity is confirmed, please help me understand this statement

salt of calcium
