8) Recently, we've had discussion of mini horses on the forum, so, i wanted to share with you the recent discovery of the skeletal remains of a mini t-rex. this fella's name is "Raptorex."

From wikipedia: "The type species is Raptorex kriegsteini, whose genus name is derived from Latin raptor, "robber", and rex, "king". The specific name honours Roman Kriegstein, a survivor of the Holocaust, whose son Henry Kriegstein donated the specimen to the University of Chicago for scientific study. Raptorex is "a genus of primitive tyrannosauroid dinosaur, similar to (but much smaller than) the later tyrannosaurids such as Tyrannosaurus rex. Its fossil remains consist of a single specimen uncovered in the lower Yixian Formation of northeastern China, dated to approximately 125 million years ago during the early Cretaceous period."

"Raptorex is about nine feet long and had an estimated weight of only 150 pounds. Raptorex belongs to an early side branch of the evolutionary group that gave rise to T. rex about 60 million years later."

From the Chicago Tribune, "The specimen was illegally dug out of a fossil field in northeast China in the last decade and sold into an illegal international black market for fossils." (to read more about this cute lil' dinosaur, please see the Chicago Tribune, or just google, "mini t rex. )

How could you not love a reptile with a mullet?

This helps explain Joe Dirt's evolutionary genealogy.

 hi wolf !! how are you doing??
(wondering if you have the camera/computer setup ready for shooting gemmo subjects?? )

yes, i remember the dodo bird, he was about as cute as mr. raptorex  . the odd thing is that raptorex existed/lived before t-rex. i saw another article about raptorex a couple of weeks ago in the news.
