I don't know... I'll bet some of Brad's faceting connections might be able to do it. They facet some VERY oddball stuff. ;)

:lol: i agree, n00b, lol, mr. brad probably has some on his website or e-bay site-faceted. or will have some in next months inventory.

nice material. at least i can pronounce "mica." one of the mineral websites has audio provided, kinda like how dr. smigel has with her class material, of pronunciations of different materials. would be a great idea for the gemology project. (hint, hint??!!)

:smt046 the last picture is really nice!! very nice the way the light shines through the material. are those needle-like inclusions in the mica? what are they? i've seen pics of the "layers" in mica which will peel. ? is this the same material as muscgovite? am i lost again? :oops:

It's fun to peel...and if you're the first and favorite young granddaughter, you don't even get in trouble when you reduce your grandmother's beautiful huge door-stop specimen to a sparkly pile.

is phlogopite.
why cab a specimen of phlogopite can sell arround colectors for 75-100 dolars ,you will sell the cab for less. and hugly perhaps.and it´s nice in specimen :)

I actually saw a faceted gem of this material about 5 years ago at the Spruce Pine, NC show. It was cut by a local faceter and I was quite impressed. I sent some to one of my cutters and he wouldn't touch it even though he faceted some halite for me.
