I'd like to start a thread (like the Stone of the Day thread) that showcases special gems. For this thread though, I'd like to focus on gems in their natural state, specifically fine examples of crystal structure. I'll get things started with a smattering of spinel octahedra.

Ugh, I don't know how to make the picture auto-link to the full-sized image hosted on my website. All I can get is this lower-res one. Someone care to give me a heads-up on how to do it?

Good idea! I'ven't got any good pictures in my computer right now, but here is a piece of beryl and I'll try to take some photos tomorrow and post here.

Hm, doesn't seem to work, how do I upload pictures?[/img]

Jung Kee, you need to upload your photos to a hosting service like IMAGESHACK. Then take the thumbnail code for forums that they offer, and post it here.
