Insightful, "Exceptional untreated stones are a bi-product of treatment."
I recommend everyone set aside 3 minutes and listen to the video.

He is certainly right. If there would be no treatments or no market for commercial goods there would be no exceptional (untreated) stones available. Its simply not profitable to mine without a market for these goods.

never thought about it that way - thanks for this statement vincent!
Gemstones are everywhere. You just have to dig deep enough to reach them.

Re: Vincent Pardieu -Treatment / mining connection
It's a fantastic video, Vincent.
While I'm a big fan of exceptional untreated gems, at the end of the day 99% of my work is about making people happy. For most people "happy" is a pretty gem they can afford, not a museum piece that requires them to sell a kidney.
I heat treat some of my gems because it allows me to sell prettier things at a better price. Getting more pretty stuff out of the parcel lowers my overall cost of goods.
Cheers,
Lisa - getting packed for Tanzania!

Dear all,
Thanks for your nice comments, it is nice to see that we were able to open the eyes of some of you regarding that aspect of the gem trade.
The main issue with treatments is when they are not disclosed properly...
All the best,
Vincent
