treatments - before and after

Post by m4816k »

Sorry if this has already been posted, but I'm just stunned by this website!

http://www.thenaturalsapphirecompany.co ... on/Photos/

It makes lack of treatment even more important to me now.

P. S. I thought heating alone could never alter the color so drastically as BE diffusion, but I was obviously wrong!

8) great link, m4!!

definitely an eye-opener, eh? i agree with you about how lack of treatment is now more important to you!! if i ever purchase a sapphire or ruby, i would like to have a laboratory gem report as well as a county of origin report.

i hope you don't mind but i posted it in the "synthetics and treatments" section on GO for my5fireflies under the "Lattice diffusion corundum advise" post.

love the term, "sandpaper quality," for very low-quality corundum, lol!!

No, of course I don't mind you posting this like elsewhere, as it's very educational and it's a shame more people doesen't know about these things before buying. It's probably a very similar case with most other gemstones, i.e. not only limited to corundum varieties.

P. S. Just imagine an ad that goes something like: "...this exquisite, sandpaper grade sapphire is accented by ten shimmering frozen spit diamonds..."
