Update about rubies from Mozambique

Dear all,

We have just uploaded an update of the "Rubies from Niassa and Cabo Delgado regions in Northern Mozambique".

We are not yet back from Mozambique but we are just back from our expedition to Niassa. As we had one day of stand by in Nampula, we decided to try to put a small update online. You can then get our preliminary report as usual on GIA Lab Bangkok website, on the "Lab Research On Going page":

This report is far to be complete as our expedition is still on-going. But I hope that you will find this update interesting: This update gives a general presentation of the different ruby and sapphire deposits in Northern Mozambique a country which has a huge gemological potential as part of the Mozambique Belt.

Basically the situation of ruby mining in Northern Mozambique is complicated as in most area the miners (usually illegal) are in conflict with the natural reserves where the ruby deposits were found.

We will update it regularly as our expedition will get new interesting results and then later after our return in Bangkok when we will have worked on the samples collected for the GIA reference collection.

The main additions are regarding the geology as we added detailed geological maps covering the two different mining areas. We also did some minor edit in the text to make it easier to read and to understand.

This new study focuses mainly on the study of the samples collected during the last field expedition we had in Mozambique.
